LOVE

Maybe you believe that love is the very stuff of which the universe is made. Or maybe you believe that love evolved as a mechanism to encourage mammals to care for their young and for one another. We do know for sure that love connects and empowers us, while the absence or loss of love is a source of trauma.

Love is what makes us compassionate. It motivates us to do things that aren’t necessarily for our immediate personal benefit. But, because the things that love inspires us to do are good for others and for our communities, they usually turn out to be good for us, too.

In order for humanity to cooperate on a global scale, we must love one another—not despite, but because of our differences.
